Every family deserves to be and feel safe. I am proud to be endorsed by Genesee County Sheriff Chris Swanson and Prosecutor David Leyton, who know I stand with law enforcement to keep communities safe.
In the State Senate, I helped increase funding to put more law enforcement officers on our streets and for training and retention of our law enforcement officers. I championed common-sense gun violence prevention, including passing legislation to require safe gun storage around minors, implement universal background checks, and allow courts to temporarily remove guns from people who are judged to be an extreme risk to themselves or others.
In Congress, I will continue to stand with law enforcement and fight to make sure our police departments have the resources they need to keep Mid-Michigan communities safe. I will help secure federal grants to put more cops on the beat, increase training opportunities, and secure the right tools to help law enforcement officials do their jobs. I will stand up for common-sense reforms that address gun violence while protecting our second amendment rights, and make sure we make proper investments in housing, education, mental health services, and addiction counseling to address the root causes of crime.
