I was raised in a working class, Michigan household. I believe that if you work hard, you should be able to retire with dignity. Unfortunately, the rising cost of living is making that increasingly difficult, and we see too many seniors forced out of retirement and picking up shifts to make ends meet. It is despicable to see extremists try to cut taxes for the wealthy at the expense of working peoples’ hard-earned benefits. I will always fight for our seniors’ financial security, which is why I am proud to be endorsed by the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare.

In the State Senate, I have stood by and delivered for Michigan seniors. I helped to repeal the Retirement Tax and protect workers’ pensions.

In Congress, I will continue to stand with Michigan seniors and protect your hard-earned benefits. I will fight anybody looking to cut benefits or raise the retirement age, and instead work to create a tax code that ensures the top 1% pay their fair share and that working families will have the money they need to retire. I will defend workers’ pensions, lower prescription drug costs, and protect Medicare.
